'I' is for ...

...IGUAZU FALLS
(I should be sure to give proper credit to my friend Charlene Stalder who took this photograph.)

The Iguazu Falls are located on the borders of Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil. They are at least a mile wide, so what you see here is only part of them.  They come down in two or three sets of falls  It was about ten years ago when we first visited them.  It was magnificent!  We had had to take a two hour flight and a twenty minute bus ride.  It felt like we were going into the depths of the jungle -- which we were.  Today it is a little more developed than it was back then.

The old movie "The Mission" was staged there.

When I was a child I loved looking through all the old National Geographic magazines my father had saved.  I was only about 7 or 8 years old at the time, but Iguazu Falls, the Amazon River and the Amazon jungle were three of my favorite things that I wanted to do when I grew up.  Another was to visit Emerald Lake near Banff, British Colombia.  I am quite surprised to be able to say that I have seen them all!  I have been very fortunate.

This is my entry for Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday.  Do go and visit others who are participating.

Your first picture with the rainbow is glorious, - it must be very satisfying for you to have been able to visit the places you longed to see.

You are such a traveler...what a blessing to have seen so many places up close and personal.

The falls are just beautiful. I remember that old movie. It was beautiful scenery.

What a gorgeous falls!

As a child I also loved The National Geographic magazine. I had to visit my friend to see it though. :))

Agree about the emerald lake - haven't seen the other two. There comes a time in life when to look at photographs is more exciting than visiting if the going is rough!

Weaver: You are so right! But I'm glad I saw them when I did.

Sounds like one of fifty things to see before you die. Great picture. Talking of National Geographic, that fox you painted haunts me. Everywhere I go I see it staring at me from the magazine racks in town, In garden centres and in Motorway services, as it has just appeared for sale over here. You did a good job of it.

The photo of the falls with a rainbow is beautiful. I can't only imagine what an awesome experience it must have been to actually see (and hear) the falls.

Oh Snafu! What it is to be haunted by a fox! Actually I think I would think it a bit weird to see my drawing everywhere, when it isn't really my drawing. Actually that did happen to me once. I copied a painting of a Viking over Flamborough Head a good many years ago. Then one day when we were in Bridlington Golf Club, we walked into the dining room and there on the opposite wall was the original painting. It was huge! I was so amazed. I had only ever seen a a post card size of it. When you've copied every last color, shade and line you really do think it's yours. Weird.

Wonderful falls, Chris, I saw the movie "The Mission".
That is always very beautiful to be seen. I saw some in Yellowstone Park and of course Niagara Falls in the movie with Marylin Monroe.
