PINK FAN DOODLE

Doodles or Tangles  I don't mind what you call them.  Cliche coming up -- 'they are what they are'.  My sister at Kaybee has decided to try her hand at these and I really like her result.  As she says, they are quite relaxing to do because you can disguise mistakes.

This is my latest:

I call it Pink Fan and I can think of several things I wish I'd done differently.  For example, the pumpkin at the bottom.  Didn't want it to be a pumpkin. It would probably have looked better in that royal blue.  But that is the idea for me here.  Trying out different patterns and colors  -- and just having fun.

You're too hard on yourself. I didn't think of pumpkin till you mentioned it. I really like this.

You'll never believe it - but I'm trying inchie tangles at the moment. Only in black and white,m and I try to limit myself to one pattern per inch. But I have squares drawn out on an A4 sheet and I'm slowly filling them in. It's fun!

Makes me think of William Morris wallpaper and similar decorations. Very nice. Before you ask, no he is not in our family tree.

Snafu: When I first started out drawing designs about 5 years ago, someone else likened my drawings to William Morris. I didn't know who he was then. I do now.

I can see you're having fun with these. The rich colours make them really eye-popping - this one brings to mind some early tiles by the Minton factory, or Persian ware by the great William de Morgan. Keep 'em coming!

Chris, this is beautiful! The colours are so rich - is it pencils or paint? I long for the day when mine will turn out like this! And AJ - that's a great idea - I am going to try tangle inchies!
