WEDNESDAYS'S WORDS

WEDNESDAY'S WORDS April 7, 2010
Since my previous post was about lighthouses, it has reminded me of Jesus's words, "I am the Light of the World".  John the disciple says Jesus is the light "who enlightens everyman coming into the world."

We need to be enlightened as to what is truth. So often I wish I knew the truth about something.  We get fed so much propaganda  and then we're told "It's for you to decide".  But how can we, when we don't know all the facts and many so-called facts are distorted or slanted?  Personally, I find it very frustrating when I know that so many sources of "truth" have in fact, a hidden agenda.

Jesus also says, "I am the Truth".  I realize that there are many thousands of people who don't believe that He is the truth or the source of true enlightenment (knowledge of truth).  The only thing I can say to them is that in my life, after fifty-two years  of being a believing Christian, I have found Him to be the only source of truth.

You may think that as a pastor's wife I'm probably a bit naive.  Let me tell you about pastors and their wives.  First, they are truly normal human beings with all the same shortcomings as anyone else.  Secondly, they get to see and hear about the seamier side of life much more than the average person because they are out there trying to help those who are suffering or who have gone wrong.  We have no delusions as to what this life is all about for many, many people.

Meanwhile, I am so totally convinced that only God knows the great truths of what is happening in this world and in my life -- and why -- that I am content to let Him lead me into His paths of truth daily.  And if I am to be absolutely truthful, because I am weak and sinful, sometimes I have to wrestle with myself to be absolutely content!

That's me.  Just another sinner-- but thankfully, a forgiven one.

What a wonderful testimony of truth! Being a Pastor's wife for close to 50 years, I too have seen, held, felt, cried with, prayed with and felt so helpless at times, and then a God moment, when you see a miracle.. someone healed in body, or someone healed in Spirit, and embraces Christ as Lord and Savior. Chris, I wouldn't trade my life for anything...to serve our Lord, as a sinner saved by grace is a miracle in it's self.

Love how you love the Lord and share it!!!

Amen, amen, and amen, Chris. I cannot argue a word of this and I feel that same sense of overwhelming dejection at the propaganda that we are fed by governments, news outlets, friends, family, and foes. Sometimes it is hard to stay the course, but I try to remember Pilgrim's Progress. A book I should really pick up and read again!

TRUTH, the truth is that Jesus is God. I had to wrestle a couple of Jehovah's Witness with that yesterday. They do not believe that Jesus was God. They think he was a good man and a son of God. Of course, they gave me a whole lot of scripture from their so called bible which is not a bible at all. Finally, I said, "If you cannot believe that Jesus is God, then we have nothing to talk about."

This is a great post, Chris. Have a wonderful day.

Well put, Chris.
Two words that have been increasingly important to me are, 'Test Everything'. If it doesn't line side by side with the Word of God then there is something wrong. Heresies can be so subtle and inveigle their way in with little effort, unless we are on our guard, studying God's Word and staying so close to JESUS that we can feel His breath on our faces. Praise God that we worship a Lord who is The Way, The Truth and The Life and to Him belongs all glory and all praise.

You know, Chris, I have met a lot of pastors wives (and husbands!)and not all of them recognise the priviledge and opportunity that they have to work alongside their spouses for the gospel - you are a precious jewel in the crown of life.x

What a great post, Chris! And so true. It would indeed be very difficult to be in any kind of Christian ministry without being assured that Jesus is the Truth. Without Him and His Word as absolute truth, we would have no foundation on which to base our counsel -- all it could be is just another opinion, which doesn't help anyone, and probably could hinder greatly!
