Y is for....

Y is for Yellowthroat

One of my favorite birds who visits my back yard only occasionally.  He hides in the bushes and very secretly flutters down a branch or two at a time until he reaches the waterfall, where he takes a drink.
This picture would have done for next week too since I call him Zorro because of his bandit-like markings. So now I will have to think harder for next week's 'Z'.
I'm a little early for this week's ABC Wednesday but I had to do it while I could. Doctor's appointment tomorrow and I didn't want to miss ABC Wednesday, so I will have to LINK tomorrow.

Oh wonderful Chris! Thanks for making the special effort to get your ABC Wednesday contribution sorted whilst you had other important jobs to sort. Hope all goes well at the doc's.

Now you have "killed" two letters with one bird, so to speak. You can take it easy next week. :-)

Chris, you style is so warm and inviting. I love your Yellowthroated Zorro.... Guess we'll have to find a Zebra for next week.

I like the expression you have given this bird--sort of a wary and interested alertness. I'll have to look for this one in my bird book.

Birds have such pretty markings and the yellow on this one is no exception. (I empathize with you - I have vertigo, too, and it can be a real nuisance.)

Looks like the Goldfinches in our yard. Beautiful illustration. They are one of my favorite birds to watch.

Lovely little bird and a beautiful portrait. Hope the vertigo clears -it's nasty, I know. I expect you've tried the Brandt-Daroff exercise - it doesn't always work, though.

You have such colourful birds over there - most of ours are little brown jobs, as you know. LOL. This is an exquisite drawing, Chris. x

I just love your drawings. I would say yellow is also for that fabulous yellow Mustang you sent me. :)

Nifty drawing for the Y post! I'll look forward to seeing him as Zorro, too. :)

Yikes! Did you have an earthquake today - Thursday? It looks like a 5.3

ChrisJ said...

Yep, we sure did -- a 5.4 and I predicted it! I watched a series of them coming up from Chile and last week there was a 6.2 just south of Mexico City, so I said to my husband and some friends who were with us that I would go out on a limb and predict we will have one in about 4 or 5 days. Even my son believes in my theory now. I'm looking for another one to hit around San Bernardino or break off east towards Nevada, east and North of Riverside. We shall see.
By the way we are fine. We were in the car when it happened so we didn't feel a thing and nothing fell over in the house as far as we can see. This is kind of fun as long as no-one gets hurt.
