REPRISE

Half the fun of going on vacation is being able to go back and look at the photographs at a later date.

Here is one that I really like and haven't shown before:

We dropped anchor off shore from Panama City.  I took several photos of this scene because it was so spectacular to see the buildings rising out of the sea.  As the sun moved the sky line looked different.  I really liked how the sun was catching the buildings and lighting them up in front of the dark sky behind. there were many ships anchored off shore in this bay, all waiting their turn to go through the Panama Canal.  Our ship didn't do that, but since we had already done it once before, we didn't mind.

My very comfortable resting place where I did most of my paintings and drawings while on the trip.  Those are my pencils etc. on the foot stool.  Had to turn my back to the window so that the sun could come over my shoulder and give me good light.

Do you like tuna?  We watched as a ship close by off loaded huge loads of tuna into truck after truck after truck ALL day long.  The 'smoke' you see here is from the ice in the refrigerated trucks.  There must have been 25 - 30 truckloads at least.

It's always nice to come home -- but to this??? It took another week to to go through all this mail.

Hello Chris !
I like to eat tuna in a salade or a good steack with burger sauce.
When we come back from three weeks vacation, we have the same thing with our mail.
I suppose you wille show what you have drawn.

A nice selection of pictures, the one of Panama rising from the sea is dramatic. Post arrives on our doormat in the UK and sometimes it is hard to open the door after a prolonged trip away. The Grandson who has been raised in the USA was most puzzled by the letter slot in our front door, when he first saw it.

Gorgeous photos, Chris! I think that much mail would overwhelm me! Looks like you had a fabulous time too and have some photographic inspiration! Yay!

Ok - when I visit you next time, I am going to try and help you get off all the junk mailing lists. It works - you just have to persevere.

I love that photo of the skyline and I can just picture you sitting in your comfy "arts nook" -- designed just for you!

Hey Chris!
I love the first photo! Yes, we always have to come back to reality ... bummer! Looking at past vacation photo's makes me yearn for the next adventure.

I really hate to see pics of tuna or whales or any other fish taken by factory ships. The supplies are not endless and one day there will be none and then some businessmen will give us the finger sign. I don't want to see a lot of good men drown but I wouldn't pray for a boat load of tuna fishermen if they drowned. I think it is a mortal sin and we are really playing God with Nature. Don't you think so too? Every one of those tuna was a member of a family. Had a mother and a father and had sisters and brothers. It is a shame.

I know what you mean Abe. The real problem is we have too many people on this planet and they all have to be fed. And who wants to deal with that problem?! Certainly the supplies are not endless. The fishermen who had to eke out a living in my little village had to quit fishing from the village, -- no more herring. But they still had to feed their families so they fished on the big trawlers from the next town. They didn't know anything else but fishing. As the population exploded the farmers lost land and had to get more food from less land. So we just keep digging the hole deeper for ourselves. We need to be able to start all over again and do it right. But who's going to listen to that?

Oh the mail after being away. It really does take a long time to go through it all. Loved the pictures of your trip. It makes me antsy to go on vacation. I would so love to go on a cruise again.

As we are completely snowed in (can hardly make it to Heather's about 100 yards away due to snow drifts!) I really enjoyed your photos....we might get out late this afternoon if the snowblower doesn't break again or if a neighbor with a tractor comes and plows us out!!! Keep posting -

To me the best part of any vacation was coming home. I hated having to catch up on the dirty laundry and laying in fresh groceries but the worst part, like you said, was looking through the mail. But the best part was still being home again.

Patty, you are so right. The best part really is being at home again. I'm really not in a hurry to do any more traveling soon.

Chris ~ we have two new artists on the Art Blog. Jose, joined with his rendering of the Lion, and a new gal named Connie from AZ did the Hoot Owl. I just added owls to the challenge.

Check it out!
