FLAMBLOGGER: R is for....

REMINISCENCES
In keeping with my post last week about finding Pieces of my Past in old diaries, I thought you might be interested in seeing this, that just arrived yesterday.
I saw an ad on Blogger for taking your blogs and putting them into book form: BlogstoPrint from SharedBooks.
I thought I'd give it a try and this is the result.

The cover is glossy and looks much nicer than this and the pages are photographic or glossy paper. I chose green because I love that color but there are other colors to choose from. I was very pleased with the result.  There are about 70 pages and the cost was approximately $33.00

The nice thing about this is that now instead of old diaries full of reminiscences done in tiny writing in pencil from my teens, I now have a full colored illustrated diary of my seventies!

I just did the year 2007 to see if I liked it.  My husband is so pleased with the result that he is urging me to have 2008 done.  Then at Christmas I'll do 2009 followed by 2010.

If you're interested just Google Blogs2print or SharedBooks.  I'm not getting any commission!  I just thought other people might like to see their work preserved in a different way other than on computers.

But while we're at it  -- the letter 'R' that is,-- this is another reminiscence that begins with R -- me and my dog Rip, taken about 1950.  My eyes are not shut, I was just looking down at Rip.  What a great dog he was!

One day I had just read a touching story in the newspaper about a dog, so I took my ten shillings I had been saving up for a tennis racket and told my mother "I'm going around the village to find a dog and I'm not coming back until I've got one!"  And that's exactly what I did.  I found a fisherman who had Rip, (who was about 6 months old).  I gave him my ten shillings and I took Rip.  He lived to a good old age.  He was still with my parents until a few years after I was married.  That was a pretty good bargain.

Thank you!!!! I have been looking for something like this along with a review of the experience and end product and cost! I've been blogging since '06 and have wanted to preserve the uses that I've posted in a format other than just being out there on line. I'm going to go try it out!

What a fantastic idea - I will definitely look into it - how lovely for you to have that record of all your great blogs!

Too bad you`re not getting commission -- all your ABC Wednesday visitors will be flocking to that site for their own books!

I love the idea of putting your blog in bookform. You can weed out the ones you don't want. I will have a look round the site!

I love the way you got your dog. If I had done something like that, I would have been sent back with the dog to give/sell it back to the person it came from. Great story.

I didn't know there was such a website offering that kind of service! It looks nice and glossy! :D

I have stopped writing on journals since I've gotten myself a blog...
:P It's nice to have photos in full colour! :D

The photo of you and your dog is nice, by the way. Your determination to get a dog turned out to be well worth it!

What a great idea! Your photo of you and Rip reminds me of my wonderful childhood dog, Sir Lancelot. Thanks too for visiting and commenting on my "r" post!

Personal memory books are such a great idea. Army Wife made one of Peanut's first year and it's a treasure. I'm getting ready to make one for our youngest who just graduated college about her experiences on the golf team. Hope it turns out as well as yours.

Looks an attractive memory book, perfect photo for the front.
Loved hearing your Wirral memories, another spooky coincidence is that my daughter in law teaches there as well.

Mara:

I wasn't really that much of a rebellious teen. I knew I was on pretty safe ground when I went looking. My parents had bought me a purebred Welsh Corgi the Christmas before. We had only had him about a month when he died from distemper. So I was pretty sure they wouldn't be dead against it. And frankly I think they didn't expect me to find one!

A very pleasant reminiscence. The Blogprinting looked interesting, but I doubt that MY blogs would be worth it.

PS Thank you for the nice comment! :-)

I Love, Love, Love the picture of you and your dog. I had a dog when I was young also. His name was Prince. He would put his mouth over my arm and very gently lead me to where he wanted me to go. He knew not to bite down and hurt me. He was such a good dog.
