Meet Pebbles.
She belongs to Morning's Minion. She is 20 years old and, I don't know, but I suspect that she will be going with them when they make their big move soon. The white fleck on her neck is from the scanner. Doesn't she look sweet and gentle? This is the first horse I have drawn.

Meet Daisy
I met her on The Weaver of Grass. I called her 'Daisy' just because that's the only name I know for a cow. She is really only a calf but she has beautiful eyes. I think after these two attempts I'm going to try doing more animals. But first I have a wonderful rooster of gorgeous colors that I might try this weekend.
Driving back from San Diego one day last week, we saw this line of black birds. It was quite strange to see because there were such a lot of them and they were all in a line.
Getting closer we could see a pelican or two among them as well as a couple of seagulls. I couldn't get any closer because we were in a 'no stopping' zone. I'm pretty sure they were cormorants because of the angle they held their beaks (up in the air). We decided there must have been an outlet of warm water there in the bay and they were enjoying a warm bath -- though it wasn't a particularly cold day. It must have been about 65 degrees but the water would probably be in the fifties.

In loving memory of my wonderful friend, JoEllen Penman
who very suddenly went to be with her Savior and Lord last Monday. She was, what I called jokingly, my "partner-in-crime" as we worked together at Victory Christian School. I praise God for the many happy times we shared together. She will be so missed by the girls who were in her Bible Class.

Pebbles--who is SHE, by the way, is indeed a sweet-natured gentle horse. She can also display a streak of mischief at times.
That calf is very authentically drawn--I was quite well acquanted with Holstein calves at one time.
I'm sorry you have lost a good friend, but glad she went to sleep in Jesus's care.
Sorry for your friend, Chris.
Nice drawings ! The calf is very cute.
What lovely drawings - Pebbles to the life, and what a good drawing of the calf.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, and I hope the Mary Webb poem on my blog helped you too.
I must be in sympathy with your loss of JoEllen Penman. A friend is like a big toe. Something just feels wrong when it isn't there. I am sad with you.
I like your birds in the water photos a lot.
I also like Daisy and Pebbles and the way you handled the outlines. Nice job on these and the contrasts between the subject and whatever is behind it is great to see. They don't look like illustrations that are often seen outlined in black but they do look like sketches done as art. Congratulations on that. I really mean it.
Thanks too for your comments about the hawk. I am sorry your camera card was out of the camera when the Coopers showed up. I have done that myself more than one.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend...
Love the drawings of both the horse and the calf. So cute!
Chris, you are doing wonderful work. The horse and calf are so realistic.
Love the birds in San Diego...
I was so saddened to hear of JoEllen's passing. Will continue to keep her friends and family in my prayers.
I am so sorry for the loss you have experienced in losing your friend. Friends are like a shady tree on a hot summer's day.
You really captured the personality of the animals. I wish I could do that.
Nicole and I are thinking of doing a sketch of ourselves. It won't be this week though because another snowstorm is coming. YIKES!
So, sorry about your frined Chris. At least we know she is now in a better place. (((hugs)))
From Cayce...I always enjoyed working with JoEllen. She always added spice to Victory Christian. Look forward to seeing her in Heaven.
Another wonderful horse drawing - you're so good at these.
Deepest sympathies to you for the loss of your friend. xxx
Daughter Wendy just told me that it's not unusual to see cormorants like this on Lake Ontario. When she's out sailing sometimes, there are so many of them, it can look like an island in the middle of the lake.
