BIRDS IN MY BACK YARD

Over the years I have counted more than 25 different species of birds in my back yard and that doesn't count all the varieties of sparrows who visit.  I'm not expert enough to tell all the different sparrows apart.

This photo amuses me because there are almost a dozen sparrows who frequently line themselves up on my fence in the mid afternoon especially if it has been a cold day.  There they try to soak up the last of the warm sunshine before night falls.

House Sparrow

White crowned sparrow

House finch

Scrub jay

Common yellow throat

American Goldfinches (Mostly Lesser goldfinches here)

California Towhee (We called this one Peg Leg.)  His offspring are
all fine.

Female Bullocks Oriole

Western Phoebe

Cooper's Hawk

There have been a few others passing through, but these are the main ones.  Identifying birds is pleasant hobby for me.  Often we will go to one of the nearby lagoons or larger parks to expand our experience.  It's a fun, peaceful and interesting hobby.

I'm a little late with this post.  Blogger tells me I have exceeded my allotment of space for photographs. Didn't know I had a limit!  So I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out a way around it and to see if it was a legitimate message.  Finally I ended up having to pay $2.50 a month  to continue my blogging!  Has any one else come across this charge and since I just finally updated my interface as they asked months ago, I wonder if it had anything to with that.  Then to add  insult to injury my credit card notified me of an extra $1.00 they charged -- for what??

This is my submission to ABC Wednesday, the project started by Mrs. Nesbitt now in its 11th round.  To see more excellent  expressions of the letter B please click HERE.

I haven't come near my Blogger picture threshold. Maybe you should use a new e-mail to start another account and get more space.

The movie The Big Year is about birding. You might like it.

I've never heard of having to pay to post photos on blogger. I post a lot, but haven't been asked.

Wow, you are so lucky to have so many bird visitors in your yard. I only see like 6 kinds of birds in my yard.

I had the photo limit mssage months ago (but I run four blogs and it adds them up!)

I got tround it by using links to photos I have posted elsewhere. I have a websit and two Flickr accounts (one of which I pay for already) so its easy for me to upload a photo somewhere else.

I know you have a Flickr account for inchies. If you want to know how to use it to link photos I can email you.

I've heard of people exceeding their limit but amazingly it has yet to happen to me. Fingers crossed I haven't just put the hex on myself.

I have loved seeing pictures of peg leg and the others but hadn't realised you had different sparrows. We just have House Sparrows.

I wonder why they didn't use the one empty panel on the fence. Whatever the reason it really enhances a super photo.

I like the fence picture and peg leg looks a real tough character, I would not want to get on the wrong side of him.
I did not know there was a picture limit, that seems to be something recent. A single dollar can be a test to see if your account details are genuine. If it is legit, they may return it or take it off the next account. Check your account for other unexplained withdrawls regularly.
We only have two species of sparrow in the UK generally, Hedge or Tree sparrows and house sparrows but there are some rarer sightings of other ones mostly from mainland Europe.
I wonder if theree is a limit on comments...:]

Your sparrows on the fence are just like ours. We have a colony of house sparrows who live behind a ventilation grill in a wall. We call it Sparrow Towers! They never seem to stop chattering....

Like you, I could watch birds for hours, but I`m a casual bird watcher and learn as I go along. Your American garden birds are beautiful.

My favourite is the fence picture - did each bird rent a panel?

Chris, I'm so glad you posted all the different birds... Now I know what I have in my back yard. I had several kinds of sparrows, but didn't know their names.

Yes, I've done a lot of blogging since 2007, and I've paid a fee twice. To me it was worth the fun and enjoyment I get from blogging daily.

Wow! You are truly blessed with a bunch of birds! I really love the sparrows on the top of the fence. That shot made me smile. :-)

I have been blogging for a very long time too and have never had a limit (that I know of) or had to pay.
Very strange to about the charge on your Credit card.
Sometimes I think too much technology can be scary.
I hope you get it all straightened out.

Love the fence photo - we sit and watch the birds in the front garden after breakfast, but I am not very good at identifying them...

We're bird lovers here too. The pic with the fence and the birds lined up is adorable. I encountered this problem with blogger and I paid a one-time charge I think. I'll have to go back and look at my charge card statements.

Also love the fence shot. Just a classic. I realize from your post that I have been confusing house sparrows with song sparrows. Thank you. You do have a wonderful array of birds and great photos!

I post a LOT of photos and was notified just over 2 years ago that I had reached my limit. Google has (had?) a $5 per year deal, and after I paid once, they notify me and then make the charge each year (through my gmail account. I thought that was great. I wonder if they've recently raised the price. $2.50 per month would be a significant increase.
