DAY AT THE BEACH IN JANUARY

Stairs down to the beach walk at Tamarack Beach, Carlsbad.  We decided we would take another day at the beach today because of all the bad weather forecast for next week.  We have a mile long walk just above the beach level and another one at street level just above that.  These are stairs from the street level to the walk just above the beach level.

My sister Kay, strides along the beach -- two days in a row!  I kind of wander back and forth up above trying to exercise a little.

Sunshine, sea and shadows along the top level.

Benches for Rune -- Visual Norway

Sunshine, seagull, sea, and sand.

Ground squirrel joining me by the benches.  We're not supposed to feed them as they dig holes in the clay cliffs and cause erosion, so there aren't nearly as many of them as there used to be.

We finished the day off with fish and chips at the Surf Shop -- actually called Harbor Fish and Chips.
YUMMY!

You do have a neat looking squirrel. Being at the beach is going to make the bad weather back home a nasty no no.

A bit of the beach would have been quite nice right now :-)

Maybe I could sit on that bench and enjoy ocean, beach, gull and squirrel?

By the looks of it you guys had a great time. The beach in January must be a bit nippy.

Wonderful photos Chris. Love the beach, and your sun and shadows are great. Love the little squirrel, but the beach scene with the sea gull...amazing.

Since Jill moved from Cardiff to Oregon... I have missed my trips to the beach with her.

Enjoyed the pics Chris. My husband (Mike) and I have been walking every day for at least an hour and the weather was so great today we took even longer. Hoping to get out tomorrow unless the rain starts. It sounds like we are all in for it. I heard the coastal mountains can bet 20". Take care and be SAFE...

I have missed walking and being outside during this interminable cold winter. I expect that even nippy days where you are would seem balmy compared to Wyoming.
I like the photo of the gull. We still aren't seeing the usual birds here. I hope I didn't let them down feed-wise during the frigid weather.

Just look at that beautiful blue sea! I love the seagull photograph. We drove down beside the English Channel in Dorset yesterday and it was cold, grey and being constantly refilled with endless rain.
